A similar technique was developed to measure the photoionization cross sections for metastable Kr(,2) (('3)(SIGMA)(,u)('+)) and Kr (5s 3/2 (,2)) at 248 nm. The kinetics result of these experiments led to a method of producing Kr(,2)F (4('2)(GAMMA)). A fluorescence suppression technique was utilized to measure the absolute absorption spectra of Kr(,2)F (4('2)(GAMMA)) throughout the visible and at various points in the UV. Similar measurements were also made for Kr(,2)('+) (1(1/2)(,u)) and Xe(,2)Cl (4('2)(GAMMA)) and the results are compared.
