An analysis of the problems and prospects of development in these countries reveals that the basic challenge is to prevent rapid population growth from neutralizing, or even reversing, improvements already made in per capita levels of living. In addition, further improvement in the levels of living of the populations also demand deliberate population planning. Hence, most of these countries have national family planning policies and programs.
