The FIR and MW frequencies calculated from the self consistent analysis have been verified by the experiments. The measurements for the MW pressure dependence were justified by the density matrix calculations.","The density matrix equations for the triple resonance were solved in matrix form which provided an inexpensive way for the calculations. The gain curves for the FIR and MW were plotted from the results of the calculations in which the M-degeneracy has been included. The curves displayed the linear, Raman and Hyper-Raman processes between the IR, FIR, and MW. For the Raman process, the IR threshold intensity (10 kW/cm('2)) and saturation intensity (500 kW/cm('2)) were identified which implied the use of a CO(,2) TEA laser in the experiment. The calculated Raman gain and Hyper-Raman gain as functions of pressures have provided a reasonable interpretation of the measured optimal pressure (3.3 torr) and maximum pressure (10 torr).","The self consistent analysis for the FIR and MW frequencies have been conducted via a series of calculations for their gain curves. The intersection of the functions (DELTA)(upsilon)(,FIR) = (DELTA)(upsilon)(,FIR)((DELTA)(upsilon)(,MW)) and (DELTA)(upsilon)(,MW) = (DELTA)(upsilon)(,MW)((DELTA)(upsilon)(,FIR)) have solved the FIR and MW frequencies that are self consistent. For four sets of intensities, the MW frequencies in terms of the frequency offsets ((DELTA)(upsilon)(,MW) = 0.009, 0.010, 0.011, 0.0125 GHz) have been obtained from the analysis and verified by the MW gain probing measurements. The calculated FIR frequency offsets ((DELTA)(upsilon)(,Fir) = 1.439, 1.455, 1.475, 1.4893 GHz) were inferred from the MW absorption probing experiments.","Made available in DSpace on 2015-05-13T15:22:28Z (GMT).
