Nasco's compositional style found in the pieces in this collection are based on common practice of liturgical music of the day, to which he added elements deriving from secular music. Many aspects of his style in the collection, however, looks toward the generation of composers following him, and acts as a link between the \"\"new style\"\" of secular composition in northern Italy in the middle of the sixteenth century and the vertically conceived music of the late Renaissance and early Baroque.
