Additional information was obtained from catalogs, bulletins, brochures, pamphlets, and newsletters. The universities included in the study were: (1) the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, (2) the University of Minnesota, (3) the University of Wisconsin at Madison, (4) Iowa State University, and (5) the University of Missouri at Kansas City.","Programs of continuing education in music at the five colleges and universities studied are greatly affected by the institution with which they are affiliated, influences by schools, departments, and other agencies, and historical development. There is no widely accepted body of knowledge; ongoing programs have little communication with others.","Decentralization of continuing education divisions has brought about new affiliation for three of five programs of continuing education in music which now operate as a component of the department or school of music. Those programs do, however, continue to maintain a liaison relationship with the central office of continuing education.","Programs of continuing education in music are quite diverse and bear little resemblance to one another. Each program has its own emphases, priorities, and strengths based on expertise of staff members, interests of clientele groups, and direction provided by departmental affiliation.","Made available in DSpace on 2014-12-16T04:12:42Z (GMT).
