We present an interface that affords the user a dual conceptual framework of editing, i.e. both structural and textual. As structured editors are expensive in terms of space and time, ways are investigated to reduce the unnecessary costs. Incomplete grammars are examined and an implementation is offered which allows the users to specify grammars of interest partially.","An implementation which allows user-specification and partial specification of grammars is presented. The implementation affords all the simplicity and power of the textual model of editing, together with all the advantages of a language-cognizant interface in a language-independent fashion.
