The data were anaylzed by doing a frequency distribution and corresponding percentages for all items; by doing a factor analysis, coefficient alpha test for reliability on scale items; and by using analysis of variance. There were 61 total teams participating with 30 being males and 31 being female. The second null hypothesis was rejected (p (LESSTHEQ) .05) as the females were significantly less favorable towards athletic scholarships than the males. The third null hypothesis was also rejected (p (LESSTHEQ) .01) with significant differences being found between the athletes' academic year in school and their perceptions on athletic scholarships. As the athletes advanced in their academic year, their perceptions towards athletic scholarships became less favorable.
