The second objective of this study was to ascertain whether or not selected demographic variables were significantly related to (a)the importance of selected teaching activities and, (b)the present skill level of graduates and students in selected teaching activities. The third objective of this study was to determine what effect years of teaching experience has on the skill level of graduates in the selected teaching activities.","The source of data used in this study was the 1979 survey of 315 juniors and seniors and graduates from the previous five years in Agricultural Education curriculums in four Illinois Universities. Four hundred sixty-two subjects were identified. Correct addresses were identified for 414 subjects. The sample of 315 students and graduates consisted of those subjects who responded to the mailed questionnaire.","Dependent variables for this study were formed from the mean scores from the importance scales of each of the 24 selected teaching activities, the present skill mean scores of each of 24 selected teaching activities, and the graduate past skill mean scores of each of the 24 selected teaching activities. The 17 independent variables were formed from the demographic factors obtained through the questionnaire.","The results do not support the hypothesis that there was no significant difference (p (LESSTHEQ) .01) in the expressed importance of certain selected teaching activities based on demographic factors of the respondents. Those factors which identified significant differences (p (LESSTHEQ) .01) were: sex, community college transfers, subject area speciality, farm work experience, enrollment in FFA, enrollment in high school agriculture, graduates not teaching, preparation satisfaction, enrollment in 4-H, junior high school agriculture, and career satisfaction. In addition, the results do not support the hypothesis that there was no significant difference (p (LESSTHEQ) .01) in the expressed present skill level of certain selected teaching activities based on demographic factors of the respondents. The thirteen demographic factors which identified significant differences (p (LESSTHEQ) .01) were: sex, graduates, community college transfers, subject area speciality, farm work experience, non farm work experience, enrollment in FFA, enrollment in high school agriculture, graduates not teaching, enrollment in 4-H, student teaching satisfaction, career satisfaction, and student status. Further, the results do support the hypothesis that there was no significant difference among respondents with zero to five years teaching experience and the expressed present skill level and the expressed past skill level in each of the 24 selected teaching activities.","Made available in DSpace on 2014-12-12T19:57:19Z (GMT).
