We represent behavior through a visualization called Plexlines, which use color coded circles—categorized into gaze, gesture, and speech—laid out along a timeline. Plexlines are stored in Notables, which allows users to compare and contrast multiple visualizations, highlight specific behaviors, and explore the visualization with video support. We use child behavioral data to demonstrate the effectiveness of Notables. To date, existing child behavioral data are often stored in raw text files or as spreadsheets, making it difficult to spot patterns and outliers. By transforming textual data into graphical visualizations, and by leveraging the interactive features of the Notables, users are able to make comparisons and interpretations at a glance.
