This research studies flooding potentials in the greater London area, the hydrological situation of the Thames River Basin, and hybrid approaches to confronting those risks. It then explores the potentials of green infrastructure to supplement current civil engineering solutions and applies findings in a site-specific proposal for the City of Westminster in central London. Such interventions, including seven typical approaches with phasing strategies, could protect the City of Westminster by helping it to adapt to new environmental conditions, but they would also impact the character of London.
