Migration flows between Brazil's 9 metropolitan areas, based on the 1980 Brazilian census, are studied considering three migrants' personal attributes: type (recent and life-time), sex (male and female), and educational attainments (none, primary, secondary, and high).","This seems to be the first study of this genre, as well as the first application of a multinomial logistic model, to urban-urban Brazilian migration. Other special features of this work are: testing several behavioral hypotheses, testing three different models and two migration variables, employing real values rather than nominal ones for the market variables, and testing the responses of migrants to the relative value of the explanatory variables (assuming symmetrical effect).","The results present interesting migrants' responses across migrants' types and educational levels.
