These data were combined with previously measured photon scattering differential cross sections and total photoabsorption cross sections to determine the isovector E2 strength and to measure the electric polarizability (a) and magnetic polarizability ({l) of a nucleon bound in 160. We find that there are no significant compact E2 resonances within the energy range of this experiment, although the data suggest that an E2 strength greater than 0.5 total energy-weighted sums exists above 64 MeV. The data also suggest that the magnetic polarizability of a nucleon bound in 160 is greater than that of a free nucleon and the electric polarizability is smaller. An ambiguity between the E2 strength and (a - {l) prevents further conclusions based on the present data.","abstract_html":"The elastic photon scattering differential cross section of 160 was measured at 45° and 135° using tagged photons with energies between 27 MeV and 64 MeV.
