What did they identify as significantly impacting their schooling? How were they prepared for post-high school? Interviews and observations took place that were then coded for emotions and patterns. Results from the study found school structural issues to be a leading cause of student placement and barriers. Students were placed in restricted learning environments without understanding why or the chance to be in general education. Students experienced racial discrimination in various aspects of the school.
