It is necessary to have economic, fair, and sustainable decision-making frameworks in place, toward meeting EV adoption targets and realizing their benefits at the Illinois state level. In this thesis, we first construct a multi-criteria EV charging infrastructure suitability map to locate EV charging stations based on economic, societal, and environmental justice measures. Second, using outcomes from EV growth modeling and their chargers' suitability and projected deployment, we model gas sales trends over the planning horizon of 2024 to 2040. We identify census tracts that should be prioritized during Illinois’ statewide deployment of EV charging infrastructure along with interstates and major highways that traverse them. Major interstates and highways, I-90, I-80, I-55, and I-57, have high siting suitability scores for charging stations.
