The combination of the shallow well of the KXe interatomic potentials along with the fine structure splitting of the K 4P states being ≪kT results in non-linear properties near the alkali D lines. Specifically in K-Xe vapor, stimulated Raman scattering has been observed, and its amplification is measured along with the excitation profile. This is the first demonstration of stimulated Raman scattering in both the alkali-rare gas molecules and a molecule with a dissociative ground state. Through these spectroscopy measurements, a high quantum efficiency laser/amplifier is engineered and physical properties of the KXe gain medium are characterized. Molecular features in KXe with fine resolution are also reported. In addition, the B^2\\mathrm{\\Sigma}_{1/2}^+ interatomic potential was also studied, and the state potential was modified using the Franck-Condon factor principle to include the blue satellite feature found in absorption and laser excitation experiments. Lastly, an excimer pumped alkali laser in KXe is demonstrated."]},{"key":"dc:format","label":"Dc Format","values":["application/pdf"]},{"key":"dc:title","label":"Title","values":["Stimulated Raman scattering, lasing, and molecular energy transfer mechanisms in KXe probed by laser spectroscopy"]}]}],"canonical_facts":{"dc:contributor":["Eden, J.
