Research examining the relationship between the frequency of racial discrimination and psychotic experiences has found significant, positive associations; however, no studies to our knowledge have examined adverse emotional and psychological responses to racism (also known as race-based traumatic stress) and its association with psychotic experiences among People of Color. The present study examined the relationship between racial trauma and experiences of psychosis among People of Color living in the United States. In a sample of 298 college students in the South and Midwest, our team found associations of trauma, racial discrimination, and racial trauma with multidimensional schizotypy. The magnitude and direction of these associations differed depending on racial or ethnic groups. Future research must examine these relationships using larger sample sizes and more advanced statistical methods."]},{"key":"dc:format","label":"Dc Format","values":["application/pdf"]},{"key":"dc:title","label":"Title","values":["The relationship of racial discrimination, general trauma, and race-based traumatic stress with multidimensional Schizotypy"]}]}],"canonical_facts":{"dc:contributor":["Kwapil, Thomas R"],"dc:creator":["Monette, Mahogany Alexus"],"dc:date":["2022-12","2022-12-05"],"dc:description":["Submission published under a 24 month embargo labeled 'Closed Access', the embargo will last until 2024-12-01","The student, Mahogany Monette, accepted the attached license on 2022-11-30 at 10:53.","The student, Mahogany Monette, submitted this Thesis for approval on 2022-11-30 at 10:57.","This Thesis was approved for publication on 2022-12-05 at 16:17.","DSpace SAF Submission Ingestion Package generated from Vireo submission #18693 on 2023-04-12 at 11:35:47","Although trauma has been examined in the context of schizotypy, the role of race-based traumatic stress in the development and expression of schizotypy is a nascent area of study.
