However, these bioinspired sensors lack the high dynamic range (HDR) and asynchronous polarization vision capabilities of the stomatopod visual system, limiting temporal resolution to ∼12 ms and dynamic range to ∼72 dB. To address these challenges, we have developed a polarization sensitive imaging device that provides both synchronous (ie frame based) and asynchronous (ie event based) visual information. The sensor has a dynamic range over 120 dB and has sub-millisecond latency. The event based polarization information is processed with a deep neural network in order to reconstruct angel and degree of polarization data beyond the maximum Nyquist frame rate."]},{"key":"dc:format","label":"Dc Format","values":["application/pdf"]},{"key":"dc:title","label":"Title","values":["Characterization of a polarization dynamic active pixel vision sensor"]}]}],"canonical_facts":{"dc:contributor":["Gruev, Viktor"],"dc:creator":["Haque, Justin"],"dc:date":["2022-05","2021-12-14"],"dc:description":["Submission published under a 24 month embargo labeled 'Closed Access', the embargo will last until 2024-05-01","The student, Justin Haque, accepted the attached license on 2021-12-10 at 16:50.","The student, Justin Haque, submitted this Thesis for approval on 2021-12-10 at 16:54.","This Thesis was approved for publication on 2021-12-14 at 08:58.","DSpace SAF Submission Ingestion Package generated from Vireo submission #17455 on 2022-11-11 at 12:18:05","The stomatopod (mantis shrimp) visual system has recently provided a blueprint for the design of paradigm-shifting polarization and multispectral imaging sensors, enabling solutions to challenging medical and remote sensing problems.
