However, with the increasing number of cars and mounted sensors, interference between radars will impede their ability to detect objects in the environment. In the context of automotive driving, such radar detection errors can be harmful. In this project, we design and implement a time-hopping based radar system and signal processing pipeline to mitigate automotive radar interference. By randomizing the idle time between chirps in a given frame, the power of the interferer can be spread out, while the power of the true reflections add up constructively. This allows us to distinguish interferers from true reflectors. In this work, we formalize this approach and present simulation and experimental results to evaluate our approach."]},{"key":"dc:format","label":"Dc Format","values":["application/pdf"]},{"key":"dc:title","label":"Title","values":["Mitigating radar interference via time hopping"]}]}],"canonical_facts":{"dc:contributor":["Hassanieh, Haitham"],"dc:creator":["Zhang, Jitian"],"dc:date":["2022-05","2022-04-28"],"dc:description":["Submission published under a 24 month embargo labeled 'U of I Access', the embargo will last until 2024-05-01","The student, Jitian Zhang, accepted the attached license on 2022-04-27 at 15:33.","The student, Jitian Zhang, submitted this Thesis for approval on 2022-04-27 at 16:02.","This Thesis was approved for publication on 2022-04-28 at 17:06.","DSpace SAF Submission Ingestion Package generated from Vireo submission #17980 on 2022-11-11 at 12:12:10","Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar has become a key sensing modality to enable automotive driving, owing to its ability to function in all-day and all-weather conditions.
