Using the semi-structured interview approach, data were collected from three Kazakh immigrant families in Southern California. The findings presents that, Kazakh immigrants’ heritage language decision and language ideology impacted by parents’ language education experiences and ethnic identity, as well as the possibility of broadening social networks and professional opportunity by the given language. The research indicated home instruction and online class are common ways of learning heritage language for them. Also, their multilingual identity yields frequent code-switching and code-mixing language practices at home domain.
