Multiple measurements must be taken from each bone by hand. 3D scanners are an unfeasible alternative because they are expensive and difficult to transport. This thesis presents a software tool that automatically takes multiple measurements on bones using 2D images. Results show that this method takes significantly less time and performs as accurately as standard measurement methods in the field of anthropology. This technology has implications for streamlining data collection practices and, by extension, forensic analyses, and procedures.","abstract_html":"Sorting commingled human skeletal remains is one of the most time-consuming jobs for forensic anthropologists.
