Abstract

dc:description.abstract

The Wool fiber material (not knitted), and its exploration towards new ways for sustentable applications. The Wool fiber “blousse”, a short- fiber material, that is a waste of the industrial process of washing and combing the Wool, is not being currently used or taken advantage by the Wool producers. This fiber has the ability of felting and conform a not-knitted fabric from a really simple hand craft technology. This was the start point for the exploration of a new sustentable configuration, in the design process and within a specific context: Hand craft chain of value located in Valle de Punilla “ De manos y Palabra” The experimental phases of this research were the leading spine for the knowealdge construction oriented to achieve innovation in this process.: The exploration of a new felt format, focused in providing socio-technical solutions addecuated to the specific local and cultural conditions. This work shows a posible and alternative road to broad the chain of value of the Wool industry, including the usage of potential waste that is valorized within this context. This Project was developed in conjuction with INTI, helping the relation of the stakeholders involved in this research.
