First, a mathematical model for each component in a diesel-generator set is developed. Individual models are next combined into one composite model from which the computer program is developed. Results of the program are then compared with actual field test data obtained at the Hatch Nuclear Power Plant and with alternate calculation methods.The computer program described in this thesis is developed to enable design engineers to make rapid and accurate determinations of the ability of a diesel-generator set to start and carry its emergency loads.
