In addition, correlations between rCBF detectors and Luria-Nebraska localization scales were investigated in order to ascertain possible agreement on focal areas of functional brain tissue loss. Nine subjects with Alzheimerâ€™s disease were compared to nine normal subjects who had been matched on the basis of age, sex, race, and education. Discriminant analysis revealed 100% correct classification of all patients and normals using three of the fourteen cognitive Luria-Nebraska scales. The pattern of cognitive scale scores of the Alzheimerâ€™s subjects was examined and compared to that seen in the normal aged subjects. Analysis of variance revealed significant differences in rCBF with Alzheimerâ€™s subjects showing lower rCBF than normals for rCBF parameters fi (p = .003), ISI (p = .005), and wj (p = .008) but not for Phi.
