The place of the cowboy novel in American literature : a study of its development from 1900 to 1940
Abstract
dc:description.abstractTherefore, it is the main purpose of this thesis to arrive at some conclusions in regard to one aspect of cowboy fiction - the cowboy novel. In the main, this study will attempt to place the cowboy novel in its proper position in American literature, While doing this, it will try to show that there are two distinct schools of cowboy novels - the romantic and the realistic; and that of these two schools, the realistic tends to produce novels of a higher literary quality.
