Using seiðr and galdr as case studies, this thesis presents a methodology that may be repeated in the future for other magic-related words in the Old Norse literary corpus. Í þessari rannsókn verður áhersla lögð á málsöguna og leitast við að greina vensl og uppruna ýmissa norrænna hugtaka er tengjast galdri. Sjónum verður öðru fremur beint að tveimur orðum, seiðr og galdr, en þeirri aðferðafræði sem hér er notuð má einnig nýta til rannsókna á öðrum orðum er tengjast galdri.
