This thesis investigates the utilization of photopolymer waste from the company Flexospring through enzymatic degradation. Given the annual generation of approximately 11.5 tons of these materials, along with the high costs and low sustainability of their conventional disposal in secure landfills or through incineration, the need arises to explore circular alternatives. The methodology was developed under a qualitative academic consulting approach, structured in three phases: characterization of the photopolymers, literature-based identification of enzymes with degradative potential, and integration of findings to propose a theoretical utilization pathway. The results identify lipases, esterases, and cutinases as catalysts with potential to hydrolyze chemical bonds in the photopolymer. The proposed theoretical pathway integrates these findings through a model of enzymatic degradation that connects the structural characterization of the material with the use of hydrolytic enzymes and oxidoreductases (such as laccases and peroxidases) to break specific bonds. It is established that, due to the highly cross-linked structure of the photopolymer, the pathway must include physicochemical pretreatments to increase material accessibility and facilitate the biological action of the selected enzymes. It is concluded that enzymatic degradation is a promising alternative for managing this type of waste, recommending future pilot tests and technical feasibility analyses for industrial implementation.
