Correlation Between Financial Support of Facilities Management and Accreditation of Higher Education Institutions

This study examined the relationship between financial support for facilities management (FM) and accreditation outcomes among public higher education institutions in the southern region of the United States accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). Using a quantitative correlational design, archival financial and accreditation data from 89 institutions were analyzed. Financial indicators related to FM expenditures were compared with accreditation outcomes using descriptive statistics, chi-square analysis, and logistic regression models. Results indicated no statistically significant relationship between higher FM financial allocations and accreditation success. The findings suggest that FM funding supports baseline compliance with accreditation standards but does not function as a differentiating factor once minimum institutional thresholds are met. These results contribute empirical evidence to a limited body of research examining how operational resource allocation relates to accreditation outcomes in higher education.
