Löslichkeitsselektive Mixed Matrix Membranen zur Gaspermeation

Abstract

dc:description.abstract

In this work solubility selective mixed matrix membranes consisting of silicon polymers and activated carbon are investigated for transport and separation properties of n-butane and methane. For mathematical description of the permeation process a new model is developed based on one-dimensional discretisation of the separation layer. This is an innovative approach for modelling of mixed matrix membranes and can also be applied for other systems than the one investigated in this work. For the purpose of model adjustment and validation, experimental investigations were carried out including permeation experiments in lab scale with single gases and gas mixtures as well as measurements of solubility and adsorption equilibria. Based on experimental and modelling results, mass transfer mechanisms within the mixed matrix membrane are identified, membrane materials are evaluated and the influences of certain parameters on membrane performance are forecasted.
