From the past to the present

Abstract

dc:description.abstract

Thesis Statement: Overlaying historic buildings with new architectural forms gives a sense of renewal and rebirth while at the same time preserves the historic fabric of the existing community. Scope of Project: This project involves the redesign and use of a historic warehouse once owned and operated by the Sears and Roebuck Company. The project will involve a three-phase master plan that includes a hotel, office tower, and residential loft apartments. Phase I of the project will focus on the lofts which will occupy roughly one fourth of the facility. Context Statement: The historic Sears warehouse is located just south of Dallas' central business district on the corner of Lamar and Belleview. It is just a few blocks from the Dallas Convention Center and less than a block from a DART light rail station, which will connect the new facility to different areas of the city.
