Abstract
dc:description.abstractIn an effort to build on the study of facility planning completed by an earlier architectural project at Texas Tech University, the focus of this research addresses the seamless integration of master planning, landscape and architectural design, particularly for university campuses. The purpose of this research is a comparative study and theoretical application of planning and landscape design concepts for university golf facilities. The comparative analysis used a combination of qualitative and quantitative research instruments to develop a conceptual master plan and landscape design for Texas Tech University’s new 18-hole golf course, the Jerry S. Rawls Championship Golf Course at Texas Tech. The findings confirmed the potential to successfully integrate the use and function of a golf clubhouse with a university hotel and conference center on the same site by developing a complex network and sophisticated circulation system to manage multiple user groups simultaneously.
