Moreover, they are able to create tailored surfaces with interconnected porosity. Applied to biomedical prostheses, such porosity can favour cell adhesion and osteointegration. The most important intrinsic characteristic of RM techniques is the large undercooling the parts undergo during the process. This undercooling results in peculiar, very fine, metastable microstructures, associated to peculiar mechanical behaviour.
