Given the JCR's short existence and the barbarity of Operation Condor, most scholars have overlooked this organization or treated as convenient excuse for the military regimes to justify their heinous crimes. This article attempts to transcend the one-dimensional view that has predominated studies on the JCR by exploring its revolutionary project and contextualizing it within the international and domestic context in which it developed.
