Collaborative Community based Self-Expanding (CCSE) E-Learning Model

Abstract

dc:description.abstract

This PhD research programme explores the design of a Collaborative Community-Based Self-Expanding (CCSE) eLearning Model to support the development of a collaborative, expansive, and community-driven online learning environment. A thorough literature review on modern online learning, collaborative eLearning, self-expanding approaches, and community learning informed the creation of the initial CCSE eLearning Model. This model then guided the systematic development of the CCSE portal, ensuring technical proficiency and research alignment through the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

Key challenges in current eLearning systems, such as interaction, peer support, collaboration, and community spirit were explored. The portal was evaluated through multiple studies, which emphasized the importance of peer interaction, community engagement, robust content moderation, and design elements. Participants in these studies, included learners, academics, and community ambassadors. The outcomes of the studies led to revisions of the CCSE Model, culminating in the final version.

Overall, the PhD demonstrates the CCSE Model's potential to enhance collaborative, community-based, self-expanding eLearning, offering a dynamic platform for knowledge construction, peer interaction, and community-driven learning. It provides valuable insights for future eLearning platform development, aiming to create more participatory, community-oriented digital learning environments in which learners can progress.
