Cultural Pluralism, Migration and Ceramics: Reconsidering An Eighteenth Century Yuchi Settlement On the Savannah River (9Ef169)
Abstract
dc:description.abstract<p>The Yuchi are a little known Native American group that once inhabited the Southeast. This study attempts to situate an eighteenth century Yuchi settlement among other Native American settlement along the transition zone of the Savannah and Chattahoochee Rivers to determine the effect of migration and cultural interaction on cultural continuity through the lens of pottery. Although studies have been conducted in the past, rarely has there been an opportunity to isolate artifacts attributed solely to them. This study attempts to distinguish spatial and geographical differences to determine Yuchean ceramic culture and how migration or cultural interactions affected cultural continuity.</p>
