Paradoxical Religious Posture: Occupying the Liminal Space

<p>In what follows I would like to investigate the concept of liminal space, which is the axis of conflict made possible through existing and/or artificial polarities. The discussion will concern the political, cultural and social situations that create the need for attention to the multiplicity of religious experience present in the 21st Century landscape. Identifying the failures of religious pluralism to adequately respond to multiplicity will help us to make room for the liminal space as an area of response and invention. In the paradoxical threshold of liminality, one is able to develop a religious posture, a way of standing in relation to the transcendent. The character of that posture will be discovered in a process of inquiry and incongruity.</p>
