The Late Unaccompanied Choral works of Ralph Vaughan Williams: A Conductor's Analysis and Performance Guide
Abstract
dc:description.abstract<p>This study presents background information about, an analysis of the structural and compositional elements of, and a guide to rehearsal and performance considerations involving the unaccompanied choral works composed by Ralph Vaughan Williams between the years 1945 and 1958. Eighteen individual pieces are discussed, including three motets, two chorales, five part songs, and eight folk song arrangements. Analytical charts mapping the form, phrase structure, and additional elements of each piece are included in the appendix. Additional information primarily concerned with Vaughan Williams's teachers and influences is also included.</p>
