The Social Ecological Model was used to guide the study. Focused Ethnographic strategy was employed for this study with focus group approach as the primary data collection. Participants for the study consisted of women who were 18 years and older and living in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolitan area in the western region of Ghana. Participants included a proportional representation of educated and non-educated; those with health insurance and those without; women with children and without children. As indicated by Skolnik (2016), “One’s health does depend on access to appropriate health care services even if you are born healthy or not” (p.21).
