This work uses the vocabulary of Race theory and Postcolonial theory to offer a fuller understanding of the challenges that immigrants face when attempting to assimilate into the United States. Furthermore, this thesis uses both braided narratives and braided genres to examine three generations of an immigrant family and its experience with America.
