Sixty-one parent-child dyads were recruited to pilot the 12- week curriculum. PA was assessed in 48 of the children pre and post intervention. All subjects wore an accelerometer (ActiGraph GT3X+) for 7 days. Mean daily minutes of accelerometer derived sedentary time (ST) and PA including light (LPA), moderate (MPA), vigorous (VPA) and moderate-to-vigorous (MVPA) were evaluated during waking hours. Data were presented as mean±SD. Differences between pre and post were compared via Paired t-test. Statistical significance was set at p≤0.05. Nineteen children met compliance standards. There were no significant differences between pre and post (respective mean±SD; p-value) ST (522±46, 525±49; p=0.6876), LPA (263±32, 254±37; p=0.1692), MPA (37±12, 38±12; p=0.4083), VPA (18±11, 23±14; p=0.1677), and MVPA (55±19, 61±23; p=0.1496). Although the intervention did not significantly increase PA in 9-10 year children participating in the pilot iCook 4-H, 37% and 47% met the PA guidelines of 60 minutes of MVPA/day at pre and post intervention, respectively.
