The variables explored included, total medication number, number of contraindicated medications, number of inappropriate medications and prescriber experience level. The sample consisted of 30 total prescribers divided into two groups. Long-term care resident medication records of each prescriber group were reviewed (n=76). The modified Medication Appropriateness Index was used to measure the medication variables. Descriptive and correlation statistics were collected. A significant correlation between total number of medications and contraindicated medication was found (group 1 p≤.01, group 2 p≤.05).
