This may be either partial or complete erectile dysfunction, which can present a change in life style. The National Institute of Health [NIH] (1992) recognized that men are increasingly identifying that impotence does not need to be a natural part of the aging process. Men are seeking ways to correct erectile dysfunction and return to their previous level and range of sexual activities.<br> The purpose of this descriptive study was to examine the quality of life and sexual functioning of aging patients during treatment of impotence with the use of the oral pharmacotherapeutic agent, sildenafil citrate (Viagra). Thirty-two male veterans from an upper-midwestern area completed the Quality of Life Index (QLI), the Centers for Marital and Sexual Health-Sexual Functioning Questionnaire (SFQ), and an author generated demographic form. Reliability was established for both the QLI and SFQ. A correlation was not found between the baseline evaluations of QLI and CMSH-SFQ.
