Nurses' Stress, Support, and Need for a Support Group: A Comparison of Critical Care and Surgical Nurses
Abstract
dc:description.abstract<p>The following objectives will be important to the study problem:<br> 1. To determine the level of stress, the level of social support, and the need for a support group as perceived by nurses working on selected nursing units.<br> 2. To determine the correlation between nurses' perceived need for a support group and the following:<br> a. nurses' perceived intensity of professional stress,<br> b. nurses' perceived intensity of personal stress,<br> c. nurses' perceived level of support from their professional support system, and<br> d. nurses' perceived level of support from their personal support system.<br> 3. To determine the difference between the type of nurse and the following:<br> a. perceived occurrence and intensity of professional stressors,<br> b. perceived level of stress,<br> c. perceived intensity of professional stress,<br> d. perceived intensity of personal stress,<br> e. perceived level of social support,<br> f. perceived level of support from their professional support system,<br> g. perceived level of support from their personal support system, and<br> h. perceived need for a support group.</p>
