A non-probability sample of 25 neonatal nurses was obtained to determine the nurses' level of knowledge of Chemstrip bG screening before and after an educational presentation. A secondary objective was to determine the relationship between the nurses' selected demographic variables and scores on selected items in the pretest.<br /> Major findings of this investigation include evidence of a significant relationship between the educational presentation and the increase in nurses' knowledge of Chemstrip bG screening. The results of this study also suggest that the selected variables and two test items could be used as predictors of the need for educational inservices regarding Chemstrip bG administration for specific nurses. In addition, the study findings indicate that regardless of the length of experience nurses may have, they need ongoing education on Chemstrip bG screening. These findings have implications for nursing and further research.
