Advanced practice nurses are role models with increased knowledge and skills and are in a position to influence professional nursing practice (Calkin, 1984) . It is assumed that advanced practice nurses have increased knowledge related to pain management, but the differences in knowledge between the advanced practice nurses and non-advanced practice nurses has not been empirically documented.
