Abstract

dc:description.abstract

Justified is a musical work for choir and orchestra that uses prose Scripture alone as its source of text. The text incorporated is drawn from Romans chapters 3-11 with additional text from Genesis 15 and 17 and 2 Timothy 2:12; the work is a setting of Paul's explanation of the doctrine of Justification. The work is intended for performance by amateur church musicians and has been written to be accessible to listeners in Southern Baptist local congregations. The work is scored for SATB, flute, oboe, Bb clarinet, bassoon, 2 Bb trumpets, horn in F, trombone, tuba, piano, and synthesizer, but may also be performed with choir and piano accompaniment.
