Origen y ciclicidad de las plataformas carbonatadas westfalienses en los sectores de Piedrafita-Lillo y Lois-Ciguera, zona cantábrica (ne de León)
Abstract
[EN] The objective of this thesis is to deepen the knowledge mapping, stratigraphic, sedimentological and tectono-sedimentary materials Lena Group (Westphalian, Carboniferous), present in the areas Piedrafita-Lillo and Ciguera Lois, southeast edge Central Coal Basin (Cantabrian Zone, NE de León). Lena Group has been divided for the first time in this region, in a series of formations that have been mapped in two geological maps at 1:20,000 scale. They all described their lithological and paleontological features characteristic. In the case of Bachende Limestone Fm (Podolskian / Myachkovian interval) has been described, in addition, a new fossil species called Loisphyllum bachendensis. Complementing the lithostratigraphic and sedimentological study has been carried out a sequential analysis using the model of transgressive-regressive sequences (TR). There is evidence that high-frequency cycles with periodicities near 20 and 40 Ka, are the key elements in organizing coal stratigraphic succession studied. These frequencies are very similar to those of Milankovitch orbital cycles of precession and obliquity, and are related to changes in sea level glacioeustáticas motivated by ice and melting of continental glaciers in Gondwana. The cyclicity expressed in these materials is best represented in the upper Moscovian, coinciding with a considerable increase in the rates of subsidence and sedimentation, indicating that they played a role in the sequence stratigraphic architecture.
