By identifying the characteristics of effective online CME, course developers can develop practices to engage paramedics and enhance learning. This will lead to better-prepared paramedics and ultimately to safer patient care in the field. A total of thirteen paramedics were surveyed and interviewed and the resulting data were analysed. The interview questions sought to find characteristics of quality in online CME as perceived by practising paramedics. The data collected revealed individual preferences in online CME as well as themes across participants.
