Community Service Plan

<p>The purpose of this study is to see if a school-wide discipline program with positive rewards and consequences is a need for the Happy Dale Elementary School. The study will consist of a case study design that would include all staff members, certified and non-certified to take part. The group will meet as a study team to develop a Community Service Plan in which students who do not follow school rules will have to give back to the school community by participating in school community service.</p> <p>Students in grades three through five will participate in the program. The student body involved will be familiarized with the point system. The system involves deducting points from a student who breaks a school rule. A student will have a certain amount of time to make up the lost points by participating in school community service.</p> <p>The conclusion of the study shows that students are willing to be responsible for their behavior in order to participate in school functions. Parents and staff members agree that this positive approach to discipline is a very effective way to build a positive school community.</p>
