The role of the school nurse should be to ease the stresses that the illness is having on the child. There are many techniques that have been shown to help reduce the child's stress and improve their understanding of their illness. However, not all nurses seem to think that it is necessary to provide emotional and social support to a child. This study explores the perceptions that the school nurses have of their role in the state of New Jersey.
