Condensation of a vapor in the presence of a non-condensing gas

Abstract

dc:description.abstract

Experimental measurements of the rate of condensation of ethanol in the presence of nitrogen, helium, and carbon dioxide, and of carbon tetrachloride in the presence of nitrogen and carbon dioxide were made on a vertical plate. The results were satisfactorily correlated in terms of the Schmidt number and a modified Grashof number as based on an analogy to natural convection heat transfer, The results on a horizontal tube for other systems are in substantial agreement with the correlation.
